Eric began his career of over three decades of culinary experience, with trade school & a Naval Chef position on a
US Destroyer Ship.
His career path led him through various restaurants & corporations like Delallo’s, Hillstone Restaurant Group, The Grand Concourse in Pittsburgh & Cenecolo in Irwin, PA.
He spent the past decade holding the title of Executive Chef twice, before taking a position at Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier, PA.
Patti graduated from IUP Academy of Culinary Arts & spent over a decade in Floridian Resorts & corporations like The Boca Raton Resort & Club, The Breakers in Palm Beach & Hillstone Restaurant Group.
Eric & Patti met in the restaurant industry, sharing a love & passion for all things Culinary. They have a mountain home in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania & share a beautiful & active life with their three girls & two dogs. Patti homeschools the girls & Eric is a Chef at a nearby private country club.
Their Christian faith is central to every aspect of their lives.
It was Eric who started Cabin & Creek Tallow Bodygoods;
unexpectedly blending his experience as a Chef to add Skincare Innovator to his skillset; with the versatility of Tallow.
Being rich & nutrient dense, Tallow had already been his top choice to use in the kitchen. “It’s really a superior cooking fat, mild, & free from strong odors or flavors often associated with other fats--and contrary to popular thought:
it’s vastly healthier”.
"This all started, because we wanted to change the way we were preparing food for our family at home. We are pretty health-conscious people, but we were beginning to question how healthy some of our traditional preparational choices were for us long-term. We ditched our non-stick frypan for a cast iron one instead. My wife threw out our "vegetable" oils & I began searching for alternatives to use besides Olive Oil. And I came upon Tallow. So I began making it myself."
Rendering down Tallow in the kitchen, Eric found its benefits for skincare.
“I was getting it on my hands, because rendering your own Tallow is a messy job. But being a Chef is a hard job. Your hands get beat up, burned, cut, & are really dry from frequent washing. I began to realize my dryness was gone. My hands looked & felt so much better, because I was getting the Tallow on my skin.”
Eric's passion for all things Tallow soon extended beyond cooking:
“Tallow offers a natural alternative to synthetic skincare products. It's incredible how similar the lipid make-up of Tallow is to our own skin, & all the best qualities that you would want in a skincare product are already naturally contained in the Tallow itself.”
Pretty soon, Cabin & Creek Tallow Bodygoods was in the works.
“We landed on the name, because it involves all the things we came to the Laurel Highlands for.
We prefer a lifestyle that embraces nature, natural living & healthier choices. There’s definitely a trend for a more wholesome lifestyle happening right now. And we are glad to see more like-minded individuals who just want better things for themselves & their families. We began showing to friends & family & getting their reactions. Everyone loved what it did for their skin, & that it was all- natural, & healthy.... something you could really feel good about using.”
